Richard Mandelbaum is a clinical herbalist and professional member of the American Herbalists Guild (AHG). He maintains a private practice in New York City and in Sullivan County, NY, in which he offers personalized holistic health consultations. Richard has been enthusiastically studying the plant world for over seventeen years and has been practicing as an herbalist since 1997, with a background in both Chinese and Western herbal traditions. He is a graduate of the School of Herbal Therapeutics and the Sage Mountain Advanced Herbal Training Program, and has studied with several well-known and respected herbalists including David Winston and William LeSassier. He currently serves as the director of the Herbal Medicine Diploma Program at the Lehigh Valley Healing Arts Academy in Emmaus, Pennsylvania, teaches and gardens at the Center for Creative Therapies and the Arts in the Catskills, and is available as a private mentor for future practitioners. In addition to teaching clinical subjects he often leads wild plant and mushroom walks and offers regular tours on medicinal uses of plants at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx. Richard practices herbal medicine based on the belief that health care should be integrative and holistic - taking into account the whole person rather than a narrow focus on disease
