MISSION STATEMENT

Future Plans for The Center for Creative Therapies and the Arts

The mission of the Center for Creative Therapies and the Arts is three-fold. First, to provide a peaceful and healthy envionment in which artists, creative arts therapists, edueators and holistic health practitioners can work to educate, empower and enrich the professional and personal lives of local residents and visitors. Second, to serve as a regional resource and model for teaching and demonstrating the construction and maintenance of an ecologically sound, energy efficient, handicapped accessible facility. Third, the Center will provide the region and community with meeting space and shelter in times of natural emergencies.

To this end, the Center will undertake the following:

1. Provide fully accessible meeting and overnight room space at competitive rates for personal and professional retreats, symposia, training and workshops in the arts, arts therapies, environmental education and holistic health.

2. Develop a facility in which the living and work space will be constructed with environmentally friendly and energy efficient building materials such as straw bale. A combination of solar, wind and geothermal sources of power and heat, (with emergency generator back-up) will produce an overabundance of energy for the Center. An organic garden will provide produce.

3. Provide at low cost:
- meeting space for community and performing groups
- gallery space for artists
- shelter and respite for community members in times of natural emergencies (power/heat ouu.ges, fire/storm damage, etc.)
- excess energy and organically grown produce

Support for the Center is projected as follows:

1. Earned income: fees for contacted services (teaching, consulting, therapy) and rental of the space; Bed and Breakfast receipts

2. Contributed income: state, federal, corporate and private funds .
